Hike #41 - Lower Table Rock, Jackson County Oregon

The Upper and Lower Table Rocks are cliff-edged Mesa's near Medford, OR.  They were once home to the Takelma Indians.  The Lower Table Rock trail is 5.4 miles RT with an elevation gain of 780'.  This trail is especially memorable because we encountered a rattlesnake!  Paul heard it first moving among the dry leaves.  It was hard to see as it blended well with it's environment.  It eventually crossed the trail and I was able to get a video of it.  We kept our distance out of respect (and a little fear!)  The views at the top of this mesa extend across the Rogue River, to the Siskiyous and the Cascades.

The rattlesnake is hard to see!
