Early August 2015 was our 2nd time visiting Crater Lake National Park. The Garfield trail is a moderate 3.4 miles RT with an elevation gain of 1122'. The week we were there, the views were smoky from the near by wild fires. The air was smoky also and uncomfortable to breath but we decided to hike anyway. At the top despite the smoke, we still had nice views of Crater Lake and even Mt. Shasta in the distance.
